Have you ever considered recycling and establishing your own compost heap? In nature everything that dies is recycled into the soil. This is the natural way of things and you can save yourself a lot of money by making your own compost.
Now that the leaves on your deciduous trees are falling, it is time to rake up the leaves and mulching them, together with other plant cuttings. Grass cuttings can also be worked into the compost heap, provided your grass is weed free. Some people put garden refuse into bags and dispose of them, but I don’t agree with this. I would rather recommend using garden and vegetable matter to make your own compost. You can either buy a dedicated compost making bin or simply cover your garden refuse with heavy duty plastic using old tyres to hold it down. Do this in at least semi-sunshine. The humidity under the plastic will kill off weeds seed germinating.
